Diving

INTRODUCTION
Three weeks ago, the students of marine life of 1st and 2nd bachillerat we all met at the school's swimming pool to dive in it. Three experts came to tell us how to place the material that we were going to use, signs to communicate with each other in the water and to dive with us. Because everything went well we divided the group in pairs, and each one dived with an expert. There were two couples in the water each time.

TECHNICAL ACTIVITY
EQUIPMENT:
To be able to dive, we had to use an specific equipment. Most importantly, a bottle with air to breathe underwater through the breathing tube. This air is compressed, so that there is a lot in every bottle so we can immerse ourselves in a longer period of time. You also need a regulator that allows you to breathe at the air pressure which you are underwater. You also need a barometer to know at which pressure you are every time, and finally, the jacket, which allows you to load the bottle at the back and it is connected to the tubes that allow you breathing (there are two, one of which is longer than the other. The longer one is which you uses, and the shorter one is which you uses in case that your partner takes your tube, so you'll have another one for you) and to the barometer. This jacket has a system that allows it to inflate and deflate. Apart from this basic equipment is also recommended goggles, flippers, among other things.

DETAILS OF IMMERSION:
Each pair was 10-15 minutes underwater at a maxim depth of 1.8 m, which is the maximum depth of the school's swimming pool. At this depth, there was no possible decompression problems.

AIR CONSUMED
We consumed an average of 24-25L air at one atmosphere per minute. If we know that we were diving between 10 and 15 minutes (we'll take 12 minutes to do the calculaltions), at a depth of 1,5 meters, therefore, to 1,15 atmospheres.
Calculations:
24,5L / 1atm = XL / 1,15atm
X = 28,175L of air every minute

28,175L*12min= 338,1L air consumed in the diving

SECURITY MEASURES
At the sea there are many risks, that is why you have to be stricter with the security measures. At the sea you should be aware of all of these things if you do not want to suffer any accident: never dive alone, before entering the water you have to check that the equipment is in order, make sure you are ok and the sea is in good condition, consider the level of your companions, do not separate of them, not dive again before 24 hours have past, learn to communicate with colleagues in the water, among other things.
At the sea you can not play the hero.

CONCLUSIONS
This dive has been very rewarding. We learned more about the marine world and how to understand it by a practical and nice way. We have learned many tricks and concepts explained by three experts, which is amazing. We are very grateful to have had the opportunity to dive.
